Moths that are attracted to your porch

Moths hatch from eggs and spend most of their lives in the larval stage as caterpillars before forming a cocoon from which they emerge as winged insects. Moths are the adult stage of the insect hatched from an egg. The first stage is a worm or caterpillar, usually seen in the spring. During this caterpillar stage, moths eat ravenously, posing a problem that is difficult to combat. They infest trees and gardens, spreading rapidly from plant to plant. After eating they spin a cocoon in which they undergo metamorphosis. After they change, the adult moth will emerge and take flight in the night sky.
